After a brilliant week supporting the Irish Junior and Cadet team at Citywest at the WAKO World Kickboxing Championships, it’s back to normality as it dawns on me that there’s only 3 weeks to go before the Belgian Open (Flanders Cup)….let’s hope giving up a week of training doesn’t do any damage! With Ireland finishing second in the medals table last week there’s nothing more motivating than these results to get me back training with a new attitude. Some of the results from these guys were nothing short of spectacular and it’s scary to see how good some of these fighters are! Well done to them all, especially my club mates at Tallaght Martial Arts who I have trained with all year.
Another highlight of these Championships was the announcement of my new partnership with my new sponsors – SAP Fighting Stye. During the week I was fortunate to get to meet with the owners of SAP Fighting Style from Italy and I’m really looking forward to representing their brand along with Irish fighters Jay Daniels and Karyna Nikitina and working with the head of SAP Fighting Style in Ireland (Ilija Salerno).
So after a great week I was straight back to the gym on Monday morning and of course back to the diet! I’m really looking forward to this next competition in Belgium. The Flanders Cup is a really well run international event and will be part of the WAKO World Kickboxing Series which starts next year. It’s a competition that I have been to every year for the last six years and I try to always attend as the standard of both fighting and judging is so good. As it’s been a few months since my last international event I’m itching to get back on a plane to compete alongside some of the worlds best. The plan will be to add another gold medal to my results from this year and after getting a silver medal last year at this event I’m really excited to try and go one better this year….will keep you all posted!
